Project IV:
fMRI based electrode design and implantation

started 2007

To shape and place electrodes according to a patients brain, we are developing fMRI protocols to identify the size and form of information rich brain surface areas.

Our goals here are:


  • the characterization of fMRI-activity during movement
  • to compare fMRI- & surface brain activities
  • to develop software for electrode design- & implantation

fMRI response during finger movement shows activity increasing in the left primary motor cortex (green arrow) and other areas.
